I’m Back…

February 13, 2011

So I’ve been kind of M.I.A. from this blog cause I’m always on my other one…sorry!

Anyways, I’m back and in style..

Before the new year, my good friend and I made a pact that we’d be “workout” buddies. We decided that we’ll take classes that sound fun.

For our first class we took yoga…well that didn’t go all too well. We basically got kicked out and told to never return. YES! we were laughing! The lady behind us who seemed to be so sweet yelled us and told us to shut up! hahaha It was embarrassing and hilarious all at the same time!

Last Monday, we took our second class. We decided that dance was our way to go. My friend doesn’t dance and she has never taken a class. So we decided to take a Cardio Bollywood dance class at the Your Neighborhood Studio in Culver City, CA and it was AMAZING!

I highly reccomend everyone to take a Bollywood dance class. The class was 5 minutes in and my friend an I, along with the class, were drenched in sweat. It was the greatest workout I’ve had since I took dance 2 years ago! My calves were sore for a good 4 days. It was amazing! We are definitely going back this coming Monday!

We’re so excited and  being excited about something helps you live a better life!

So go ahead and sign up with a friend for whatever class you find interesting!

Live your best life!

Bye!

BACK TO SCHOOL

August 28, 2010

Well its back to school time! How awesome! Hope summer has been treating you guys amazing, cause I know my summer has been Fabulous!!!

All these back to school commercials on tv have been causing me to reminisce on when going back to school was a big deal. We had to set aside a whole day or week just to buy new clothes and new supplies all to just replace during the year.

I found it funny how we stopped doing all of that once we landed in the 10th/11th grade. At least I was over it by then.

I also found it amazing that now that we’re in college it’s less about our fashion (for most.) and more about our grades and education. Or at least for me and my friends its like that.

I hope everybody has a manageable stress level and a fun year!

This is the year where we whoop more ass than ever and and bring up our GPA’s (For those who messed up).

Lets ROCK on!

WELCOME BACK TO SCHOOL KIDS! :)

Kamran and Hooman, Persian sensations! They were once in a group that was very popular and famous back in the 90′s. The group went their separate ways when one of their group members died in an accident. Their music was and is GREAT!

Anyways, that’s not why I’m writing about them. I’m writing about them because for the first time ever , I went to Universal City Walk and I saw them there! BEST BELIEVE I was EXCITED!!!!!

The End! haha =]

I Died!

May 21, 2010

Okay, so I know that this whole thing is about talking about things we see in the media and stuff. But this blog is going to be about what took place in Grey’s tonight and my reaction…

SO I DIED!!!!!

Tonight is Thursday night, which means wings and pizza and my sister’s house along with some DVR…However when it comes to Grey’s Anatomy, we wait a little so it can get recorded for a half hour so we can watch it commercial free!

TONIGHT’S SEASON FINALE WAS SO INTENSE THAT I COULDN’T HANDLE IT!

A couple episodes ago a man goes in with his wife because she was ill. She had a DNR which basically means if something were to happen DO NOT RESUSCITATE.  The doctors who were working on her case had decided it was time to stop the bypass and let her go. However, the husband wasn’t ready to let go. Now the Chief, Derek Shepherd, had looked over the DNR and said that it was time…

The husband and filled a lawsuit against the hospital and Derek Shepherd for “killing” his wife. Obviously, the husband lost. So in tonights episode the husband came back for revenge…WITH A GUN! He basically ran around the hospital killing everybody in the search for the Chief.

ONCE AGAIN IT WAS THE MOST INTENSE 2 HOURS OF MY LIFE!!!!!!!!!!

Between hyperventilating and grabbing onto my cousin and twisting and turning, I died and came back to life a million times.

I mean the writers of Grey’s Anatomy are GENIUSES!!! They packed in enough drama to keep me satisfied until September.

I am left SPEECHLESS and all I can really say is I DIED!!!!!!

Bye.

Let’s Keep This Private.

May 14, 2010

So tonight’s Private Practice was the season finale… Yes, I know, so sad! I think it was definitely one their best episodes. I don’t want to ruin it for anyone who watches it but hasn’t seen tonights episode…but it was GOOD!!!! =]

For some reason tonight I was observing pretty much everything about the characters and how they are positioned and even what they are wearing. Even for those who don’t watch but have seen the commercials know that tonight’s episode was special yet very sad.

Between all the gasps and OMG!’s and the “Oh man NO!”, I noticed how the characters were standing and the angles the cameras were aimed. There was a scene where everybody was standing in a hospital room and it was very tragic because  Mia (the daughter of Sam and Naomi) who is 15 and 9 months pregnant, also in labor, had just been in an accident. They had to make the decision to either save the baby and leave Mia paralyzed, let Mia walk again and the baby dies, or try to safe both. Sam and Naomi got into a heated argument and I noticed how after the argument Naomi was standing at an angle facing Mia and Sam had his back to Naomi.

I thought to myself why are they standing like that? I mean when we stop fighting we don’t stop and stand like that…We either walk away or just keep on doing what were doing. Then it hit me. It adds on to the effect of the drama. I realized the way I felt…I am the audience and for a split second I had to check how that made ME feel. And well it made me feel a little more sad and OMG! because of how that position portrayed their body language and the emotion of intensity and grief.

On a side note, I want to point our their outfits. EVERYBODY seems to match. It’s as if the design team decided to pick a color for each scene and have everybody match. Even their scrubs that come in standard colors matched with everything. Addison who is played by Kate Walsh (main character) was wearing purple scrubs and they found a way to dress almost everybody in colors that would compliment the purple scrubs…

I just found that interesting that they do that with a lot of tv shows.

What Are We Afraid Of?

May 7, 2010

It seems the that media in general is full of stereotypical images. Whether it is a stereotype about gender, race, culture, or anything they can find, is what i believe is due to fear of being different.

Different has always been associated with some kind of bad, whether it is identified with some kind of disease or even because it started a conflict between two. And because people are so scared of different it turns them into narrow minded people who are ignorant about things they don’t even have a clue about.

For example, homosexuals have always been the comic relief on TV shows such as Will &  Grace, Sex and the City, as well as many others. Men are portrayed as feminine and females are more manly and “butch.”  However, if  the TV show or film was based on more of a serious note and the homosexual couple were to have a love scene, immediately someone who isn’t homosexual would find it “disturbing” or “uncomfortable” or even better yet “against the bible!” People are so afraid of different that they fail to open their eyes and see that different isn’t so different. They will make any excuse to not see how different isn’t so bad.

We are all human beings. We breathe the same air, whether we are in California or the Middle East. We each have a heart that beats at the same rate and blood that flows in the same direction. We are human. Humans who come in different shapes, sizes, colors, and genders.

Could you imagine not being able to love the person which whom you adore and couldn’t see yourself without in every moment of your existence? Could you survive the rules of you can love whoever you want but in secret ONLY? To those questions I am pretty sure the answer would be Absolutely Not!!!

Love is Love.

The media portrays these stereotypical images that the audience believes and turns  into their reality. Failing to see how its all screen play with little truth behind it. And that is where all the underlying problems hang.

I believe that the media turns people who live on what the media feeds them into narrow minded, ignorant filled people.

There is someone (who will remain nameless) in my class who always speaks of ignorance, and how that is what she hates; people being against things because they are ignorant. She called me ignorant for believing the something should be done for those who are cheating their way through the system.

I do not believe that that is ignorance. I believe that the people who hate because they think a person is a certain way, or they hate and provoke privileges because a person is  gay and loves another man or loves another woman and wants to be able to have the same relationship and marriage privileges as a straight couple/ family, or because they refuse to be FAIR and refuse to CHANGE, those are the people who are IGNORANT! NOT I who believe that there should be equality for everybody in the right way.

The stereotypes creates all the tension in the world  because the audience fails to separate their fears of change and different from what is common sense and fair.

Fact: Stereotypes start all the unnecessary drama and unrealistic beliefs.

Go Ahead Ask Me Anything!

April 28, 2010

The latest craze with teens is this site called formspring.me. It is a site where you can ask whoever you want anything you want without them knowing who you are.

I opened an account when formspring.me had just become known. I didn’t understand the concept of it and why anybody would spend their time on there until just recently when I met somebody who interested me!I know it seems a little stalkerish but its not!

The questions people ask are hilarious and sometimes personal. It’s a sure thing that you need to have a good sense of humor to find it entertaining. People as anything from whats you’re favorite…to how much toilet paper to you use?!

After being on it for about a week or so, I have found myself to be somewhat addicted! I check every so often.

To a degree I think it’s a genius idea. I mean think about it, you can ask whatever you want without anybody knowing who it’s from! I mean we are human and our minds wander and sometimes we can’t ask some questions cause we chicken out and now we have somewhere to ask whatever is on your mind.

Them best part it you don’t have to be a member to ask a question. So Go Ahead Ask me ANYTHING http://formspring.me/MsGigglez09

Have a Happy Period!

April 27, 2010

Whoever came up with that slogan for the Always pad commercial needs to be slapped. I bet it was by a man. Only guys think we need to be happier even if we are PMSing.

Let me give you a insider on how this works. Every month we go through hell. From being so bloated that you can only fit into sweats to popping advil every 5mins. On top of that we have to listen to the idots who keep asking us, ” Are you on you’re period?!” Its like GO AWAY!

And no I don’t have issues, I’m just stating some facts.

Guys don’t go through much…Except when they hit that age where their prostate gets all big. BooHoo

Women have to go through monthly periods, popping out babies from our Vajayjay’s, to having them suck on our Oh so perky boobs til it all ends when we are menopausal. Men, have a free ride until THEY  are MENOPAUSAL!

I wrote all this just to say that damn always pad commercial gets on my nerves!

A Curse or A Blessing?

April 27, 2010

FAME!

Is fame a blessing or is it a curse?

I am amazed by this fascination of fame and becoming famous.
The media shows everything from a famous superstar having an off day to them having a mental breakdown when they have almost dropped their infant.

Becoming famous is something everyone in the world can accomplish. Even I who have no desire to become famous can do or say something stupid and some can catch it and post it to the web and that alone can turn me into an over night celebrity.

But I believe that those over night celebrity’s are the ones who give the media and fame a bad reputation. That I believe is safe to say is the curse of fame and media. They become instant celebrities and they fear that they may lose it because they have no true talent. And to make up for that, they go into clubs and dance tables or try to sing and fail or even better yet become fat and try to lose it all on national TV so that they can remain famous and become some kind of spokes person for Weight Watchers and Jenny Craig.

However, there are those who become famous with true talent and use their fame for good. That is the blessing. The singers, actors, dancers, etc, who worked so hard to get to where they are now and try to do good are the ones who deserve to be recognized!

Lets pick an example. How about Oprah? She has worked hard to build this empire of which she uses to do some good in the world. She has an education of some sort and started small and look at where she is now!

Or Ellen Degeneres…She has been through so much because she is gay and because she had to keep it a secret and look at where she is now. With her own talk show and on American Idol. It’s safe to say that she worked hard for her success.

So fame has its good and bad. But if you’re going to try and become famous at least try to do so with some grace and talent. RAW talent. None of that stupid lets break an Ipad and lets see who watches…

Stay true!

Does more expensive mean better?!

April 26, 2010

Today I was reading over my yahoo home page and I came across this video/article about jeans. Expensive vs cheap. The reporter said that her step daughter would spend a pricey amount of money on designer jeans. Now the question that they were trying to answer was we’re the more expensive jeans better? It turns out that they are just as good as the inexpensive ones from Old Navy that were only $29. I’ve always thought that spending a lot for just one thing is insane. Unless there is an actual difference between the expensive and inexpensive.

I personally, usually spend between $40-$60 on jeans. But that’s only because of the store I have to go to.

Now jeans aren’t the only over priced items being sold. I have also seen SHIRTS that are $180 or more. Why spend that much when you can go to H & M for the same exact material if not style for more than half that price?!

Before high school ended I had a lot of events to go to and dresses aren’t cheap. So I’d go (and still do) to the ross across my street and buy my dresses. That same day I would be walking around the mall and I would see the SAME exact dress in Macy’s selling for twice as much as I paid.

Now for the question of which is better…Well from my experiences, they are both the same! Except one is a rip off and the other is a bargain.

If you don’t believe me, you should test it out!
